How to make your commercial refrigerator appealing to customers

Food shops are one of the most competitive fields out there. With Asda, Tesco, Aldi and Morrisons (just to name a few!) all vying for your loyalty to come back again and again for your weekly shop. They each try and get the upper hand in any way possible – including their refrigeration unit layout.

One of the great things about display fridges is that they serve a vital purpose of keeping products at a chilled temperature, whilst providing ample storage for a multitude of goods. Be sure to use them to your advantage, and you’ll be onto a winner, cementing your position as your customer’s supermarket of preference.

Keep it clean

Especially during the recent COVID-19 pandemic, there has been a huge emphasis on the cleanliness of facilities, and with good reason. Commercial refrigerators should be cleaned thoroughly and frequently, as many people will be touching the doors and products inside daily. It is more important than ever to keep customers safe and ensure that your refrigerator is hygienic.

From an aesthetic point of view, if a customer can spot grime, dust, or dirt present on your commercial refrigeration unit, it is very unlikely that they are going to put their hands inside to purchase a product. Hygiene goes a long way towards making your premises safe and trustworthy, especially in today’s climate.

Keep it organised

Think of your refrigeration unit as a room in the house, except your house is going to have potentially hundreds of visitors a day! You would want to keep it clean and organised, right? You are more likely to achieve a sale on products if they are kept in a way that can be easily navigated by your customers. This could be sorted alphabetically or by food type or group, a small convenience can sit well with your customers.

Also, make sure you purchase a commercial refrigeration unit that is the correct size for your products. If demand starts to outweigh supply then you may want to consider installing a new, larger unit to eliminate any potential overcrowding. After all, if a customer isn’t satisfied with their shopping experience, there are plenty of other stores they could visit…

Keep it colourful

Another thing you can do to make your multideck display fridge stand out is to make the most of the products at your disposal. It is no secret that food packaging is becoming more and more creative in its design, with many different colours making their way onto our shelves. Use this to your advantage and set products out in a way that is sure to grab a customer’s attention and make a sale.
